Cathal grew up in the family crane and plant hire business, Dan McNally Ltd, working his way up from operator to company director. Cathal drove the development of the crane hire side of the business, including the purchase of Ireland’s first 400t crane (then the largest in Ireland), the first 650t heavy lattice crane, and the first 1200t mobile telescopic crane in Ireland. During his time with Dan McNally Cathal pushed for the company’s achievement of ISO 9001 and 14001 and OHSAS 18001 certification.
Highlights of Cathal’s career include the installation of the Dublin Millenium Bridge in 1999, and planning and managing the erection of the Spire of Dublin in January 2003.
Responding to the growth in Wind Farm development Cathal and his brother formed a new company, Windhoist, in 2005, which became the largest Wind Turbine installation contractor in Ireland and the UK and took significant market share in mainland Europe and beyond.
Along with Louise King Cathal formed Lifting Gear Suppliers in 2011 to supply and hire Specialist Lifting Equipment and consultancy to businesses.
Cathal is honest and straightforward and is always on the other end of the phone to offer advice or an alternative course of action on those rare occasions when things go wrong. He goes the extra mile for people and he has spread that ethos through BOSSLIFT. Cathal is fanatical about proper preparation, plant maintenance, planning, compliance and customer service. The strong work ethic of staff within other organisations where he was a Director, was driven by Cathal and this same work ethic is carried on in BOSSLIFT.
Louise’s rich experience in the crane industry began in West London in 2003 with the German Crane Manufacturer, Terex-Demag Ltd. Starting out as a PA to the Managing Director and regional sales managers, she soon took on the marketing and sales of new and used cranes. Having moved to Ireland, Louise was co-director and ran the day-to-day operations of Lifting Gear Suppliers Ltd from 2011 to 2016, which provided the appropriate heavy-lifting equipment for cranage. She and her partner Cathal McNally started Bosslift in May 2016.
Louise’s supreme organisational skills have been integral to the success of every role she has taken on and BOSSLIFT is no exception. She runs the business based on systems and processes that are aligned with BOSSLIFT’s ethos, which is to provide a consistently superior and reliable service.
Louise works hard to maintain a professional and respectful team built on trust, with clear-cut roles and a well-defined decision making process, ensuring a fast, accurate service for the customer.
